Following radio support of his last single ‘Farmhouseʼ which BBC 6Musicʼs Tom Robinson dubbed ‘the perfect two and a half minute pop songʼ, London singer/songwriter Azu Yeché follows up with ʼSunriseʼ

Produced by Fred Cox (Rag n Bone Man, Samm Henshaw, Hamzaa, Liam Bailey), Sunrise has a gentle ease about it with its hypnotic drum pattern and guitar lines.

Speaking about the inspiration of the song, Azu added

‘Sunrise looks at the last year weʼve had – not just personally but as a nation and as a world. From Brexit and Trump to the changes in my own life.

The pace of change seemed a little shocking and drastic and this inspired me to write a positive song about appreciating that constant person by your side – the things/people you can trust regardless of whatʼs going on around you. Sometimes, you just need to hold onto the thing/person that keeps you sane amidst these ever-changing timesʼ

Supported by Azuʼs distinctive voice, the mix of rhythmic Hi Life African guitars and the glorious choral background vocals , ‘Sunriseʼ breezes through with intent and an affecting vocal that sits atop a beat that brings folk, pop and soul in a warm and emotionally resonant manner.
