Pop singer and songwriter Melanie Herrera announces her debut album, A Fearful & Wondrous Thing, arriving May 28. Alongside the news, she shares the project’s final pre‑release single, “I Think I Lied.”

Playful and flirtatious, “I Think I Lied” leans into the charged uncertainty of romantic impulse. Herrera captures the tension of contradiction with a track that feels light on its feet yet emotionally restless, building toward a bridge that swells with rising anticipation. “‘I Think I Lied’ is a sexy, playful contradiction about the moment you realize you didn’t quite mean your goodbye, and how easy it is to romanticize something you meant to let go,” she explains.

The single offers a glimpse into the magical world of Herrera’s forthcoming album. “At its core, this record is an arrival—both to life and to myself as an artist,” she shares. “I’m a late bloomer who spent years believing I wasn’t someone who could accomplish great things, which kept me rooted in anxiety and self‑doubt. These songs came after I finally broke free of that story, and they reflect a life lived in full—complete with love, grief, mystery, joy, and all the beautiful chaos of being alive.”

To celebrate the release, Herrera will headline an album release show at New York City’s Bowery Palace on June 4. Tickets are on sale now.

A New York City–based singer, songwriter, and performer, Herrera blends emotional precision with a deep love of storytelling—a style she affectionately calls “storybook‑pop.” Her work is both personal and cinematic, layered with character, detail, and emotional depth.

Originally from the Philadelphia area, Herrera was raised by Mexican and Argentinean parents in a home where emotional fluency and musicality were part of daily life. The daughter of a psychotherapist and a Latin jazz musician, she grew up surrounded by honest conversation and eclectic sound. She began performing early—singing with her father’s band, training in ballet and choir, and eventually writing her own songs. Though music remained a constant, her early career path led her into acting, taking her to Los Angeles before she ultimately returned to songwriting.

Her charisma and sharp creative instincts have also propelled her into the social media spotlight through her viral “Nepo Baby Vocal Warm‑Ups” series, created with her husband. The videos have amassed millions of views across Instagram and TikTok, leading to collaborations with Dancing With the Stars, Kate Hudson, Hugh Jackman, and more.

With A Fearful & Wondrous Thing, Herrera steps into her most fully realized chapter yet—one shaped by vulnerability, imagination, and a deep trust in her own voice.
