The Foreword is an acoustic indie-pop duo from Atlanta, GA, consisting of Maggie Schneider and Alex Crain. Heavily influenced by groups like All Time Low, State Champs, and Paramore, as well as musical theatre songwriters Pasek and Paul (Dear Evan Hansen, The Greatest Showman, La La Land), The Foreword offers a fresh sound with stripped back pop rock elements and relatable lyrics for fans of all ages. The duo first began working together during fall of 2016 while both were working on their own projects, Schneider a solo artist and Crain the lead guitarist in The Everyday Anthem. Sharing a passion for songwriting, they worked on a handful of tracks including “Break” which can be found on Schneider’s 2018 debut EP, Tinted Glasses.

After a period of time working together, both as friends and artists with Crain performing in Schneider’s live band, the two decided it was finally time to join forces and create a project that would highlight their strengths as a team. The Foreword spent the better part of 2018 working on their debut EP, Coffee Cups and Second Shots, which was recorded and produced by Rian Dawson (of All Time Low) at Track Happy Studios. Set for release on September 28th, 2018, the six track EP touches on topics of love, life, and the relationships we have along the way.

“This EP is really special to Alex and I because it is truly a collaboration between two best friends. Music brought us closer together, so having the opportunity to create our own collection of songs felt right! “Coffee Cups & Second Shots” takes the listener through a range of emotions, just as a relationship has ups and downs, and we wanted each song to feel original, relatable, and in some parts, theatrical. It tells a story that’s important to us, and showcases our bond as both musical partners and friends. We are so happy that these songs can finally be heard outside of my living room.” – Maggie Schneider
