Grammy winning producers, Matt Wallace and Will Kennedy have announced their new collaboration, Studio Delux Immersive, as a multi-dimensional audio recording facility capable of mixing music in Dolby Atmos, Sony 360RA, and Spatial Audio. The two industry pros, who are known for their forward-thinking studio techniques, will be focused on mixing for these new immersive formats, which they believe to be the new gold standard for audio.

Matt and Will have already created immersive music mixes for Jason Mraz, Faith No More, The B-52s, and Kid Rock, to name a few. As music streaming heavyweights, such as Apple Music, Amazon and TIDAL, go all in on the immersive formats, the two producers decided they had to be a part of what promises to be the next revolution in audio for music fans around the world.

“What we are experiencing is the most exciting music listening advancement in 3 generations,” says Kennedy. “When Matt and I sat down to explore the possibilities of mixing for these new formats, our expectations were blown out of the water by the emotional impact and new detail it was possible to bring to already existing recordings.”

Immersive audio – the umbrella term for 3D audio formats such as Dolby Atmos, Sony 360RA, and Apple Spatial Audio – gives the listener a more authentic sonic experience than previous formats. Matt has steadfastly maintained that capturing the energy and ’spirit’ of an artist is paramount to connecting with the listeners. And based on their slate of upcoming releases, it seems he is not alone in this mindset.

“Immersive Audio is the next generation in audio that takes the leap from Mono to Stereo to an exponentially more panoramic and cinematic listening experience,” adds Wallace. “The ability to place instruments, voices, and ambience far beyond the Left/Right Stereo field opens up new ways to connect with the intentions of the artists and bands that, heretofore, were not possible.”

With a joint resume that includes some of Music’s biggest names, such as OneRepublic, U2, Train, O.A.R., Sheryl Crow, Deftones, and Queen, Matt and Will bring an unparalleled level of mixing experience to the immersive audio space. With the Metaverse on the horizon and more immersive experiences driving entertainment, immersive audio sounds less like the future for music and more like the new standard.
