“I’ve had a lot of ups and downs but I’m in a moment of my career where I’m ready to look forward,” shares Ithaca, NY based indie pop artist Ariel Arbisser to Divine Magazine. This singer/songwriter has a unique way of connecting with her listeners, making them feel seen, heard, and understood with her open lyrics and dynamic melodies.

After years struggling with mental health at Cornell University, Ariel decided to put her formal education on hold to pursue music full time. This turned out to be one of the most challenging and rewarding decisions of her life. “It took time and introspection -and therapy- to realize I needed to prioritize joy in my decision making process and redefine what success meant to me.”

She recently released her new indie pop single “Rabbit Hole,” a follow up song to her previous electro-pop single “Bloodshed.” Thematically, they both encourage an embrace of your inner dark side. “Rabbit Hole” is restrained, sexy, and a slow-burn, exemplifying the enticing nature of our “dark side.”

Ariel’s voice is soulful and powerful. It comes from deep within her body and soul that’s palpable in her music. It’s like Adele meets Brandi Carlile meets Alice Russell. She delivers music with compelling lyrics and her commanding vocals, adding layers of depth and profoundness that’s hard to find elsewhere.

In a world that’s dangerous for far too many and uncomfortable for almost everyone, she creates a touchstone by creating art, appreciating simple pleasures, and taking dedicated and intentional risks for love. “With love comes inevitable pain– miscommunication, betrayal, heartache, loss… Allowing yourself to be vulnerable enough to experience love, however briefly, is brave. And it’s worth it in the end.”
