faq
What is a blog tour?

A blog tour is a way to promote yourself and your book. You compose guest blog pieces or answer interviews, which are subsequently published on carefully selected host sites on a specific date.

What are the benefits?

It’s wonderful PR, which increases sales! Because you’ll be featured on a different site every day, you’ll have the opportunity to gain new readers, inform existing readers about your new releases, and have your work added to those all-important to-read lists! You can talk to and engage with readers, which makes it more likely they’ll read your work.

What is a guest blog post?

A guest blog post is where you write something that will be of interest to readers, whether it’s about your writing process, your characters, your inspiration, etc. These are then posted on a host blog along with your book cover and buy links to make readers aware of you and your work.

Example blog post rundown:

  • Topic title by Author Name
  • Introduction
  • Guest post which links to book you’re promoting
  • Book blurb (cover will be inserted by blog host), including buy links
  • Author bio, written in the third person. Please include links to your website and social media profiles, if available. The more ways you give people to engage with you, the better
Should I write something new for each stop on the tour?

You do not have to, but it is highly suggested. Some tour hosts will urge that your content be original, as sending the same thing out to multiple blogs has several drawbacks: The search engines penalize duplicate content, so your post is less likely to be ranked highly; it appears that you can’t be bothered to write new content; there may be people following you on each stop of your tour, and they won’t be happy to see the same posts appear; and with each new discussion, you have a better chance of attracting new readers because you’re giving them a new ‘hook’ and making them interested in you and your work.

What happens once you make the post live?

The post will be promoted on social media as outlined in the Blog Tour Packages instructions, but it is also important for you to promote it personally. Send emails to your friends, publish content on your blog, and distribute links through your own social networks. The more visitors you get, the better. You should also check back occasionally to see if there have been any comments on your post and respond to them, as well as any questions that may have arisen.

What do I need to supply for a blog tour?

What we’ll need to get started (once your tour is full, we will send a detailed email letting you know what else we need for the posts and how this should be supplied):

  • Book cover image, good quality
  • Book blurb
  • Buy link(s)

Guest blogs should be written well before the posting date so we can check for errors and send them to the host blog. This also provides the host blog plenty of time to set up the post on their end and allows time for resolving any problems that may arise. To this end, please ensure that we receive all guest posts/interviews for your tour at least two weeks before the start date. Any missed days due to late content will not be our responsibility.

If for any reason, you determine you can’t supply the guest blog posts on time, or something comes up, please let us know as soon as you get the chance. That way the blog tour dates can be rearranged if necessary.

PLEASE NOTE:

Please only supply the final tour materials to us. We send them out very soon after receiving them from authors to ensure everything runs smoothly. If an author wants to change the content, images, or dates after this time, a surcharge will be added (except for family emergencies).

If you decide to run a giveaway as part of your blog tour (which is highly recommended), then you are responsible for contacting your winner(s) and sending out prizes. We will send you the winner’s contact details once the tour is finished—the rest is down to you. We will not be held responsible for the non-delivery of the prize(s).
