SLÖZA – an independent singer-songwriter from Ukraine who has taken the UK music scene by storm. Her music is a blend of pop, R&B, and alternative, resulting in a sound that is both shadowy and melancholic, yet sexy and passionate.

Who inspired you to make music?

Artists I listened to when I was a teenage girl. Pink, Avril Lavigne, Rihanna and Lady Gaga. I still love all of them! Rebellious girls!

How do you feel the Internet has impacted the music business?

It’s been around for quite long already that I can’t imagine what the industry would look like without the internet. The Internet means availability.

Have you got a ritual of sorts when making music?

The main thing is not to overthink.

How would you describe your music?

R’n’B with Western European melodism.

What’s next for you?

Literally everything! Songs, gigs, albums, tour …

What are your top two favorite songs of all time? Why those songs?

Nature boy by Nat King Cole. Because “the greatest thing you can ever learn is To Love and Be Loved in return”.

The second one that came to my mind was my mama’s lullaby.

What was the last series you watched on TV?

“The Young Pope” , Paolo Sorrentino

What do you think the greatest invention has been?

Penicillin

Do you have any lucky items, objects, or traditions?

I have my ceramic cicada from Athens by my bed. Just in case.

If you could ask your future self one question, what would it be?

Are you happy now?

If you had to describe yourself as a flavor, what would it be?

Mint tea

SLÖZA shares her dreamy summer single ‘Secret’, out everywhere now.

Speaking of the track, SLÖZA says. “For me it’s a significant achievement to be able to notice summer again. It’s like coming back to life. I was very much inspired by stories of many women and their secrets – how they cure themselves, what their safe place is. My safe place is being so much in love. And my partner is my endless summer – no matter what the season.

It is the scent of the warm air and the shore that drives you crazy. It makes you long for something intangible at night. Your dreams and desires burn you from inside, making you so fragile. But once you meet your love, you don’t hesitate and doubt anymore. This is where your endless summer begins.”
