Vanessa Mood (Vanessa Moodley) is a South African born singer, international award winning songwriter, producer and entrepreneur. A newcomer to Canada, her music is soulful, passionate – often telling stories of intimacy that leave you feeling less alone in this world.

What would you be doing right now if it weren’t for your music career?

It would be a toss up between teaching or accounting… so different I know!

What is the best advice you’ve been given?

Just get it done! So often we get stuck in our own thoughts and fears… just get it done and out and reflect later… if you really have to:)

Has your musical journey had a deliberate direction, or did it simply gradually evolve in whatever direction it found?

I would say a little of both. I think taking a step in any direction will lead you. So there were deliberate steps like completing a Bachelors Degree in Music and starting a company, but those decisions were keys to a gradual evolution… the key is to take a step in any direction and see where it takes you.

Do you have any other plans relating to this release? A video? Online Shows?

Right now, we are trying to figure out funding for my first music video! So if you want one, please stream or send requests or buy some merch! Every and any effort from listeners helps!

Where was your current project recorded?

At home!!

What was the last TV series you watched on TV?

The new version of Lincoln LawyerManuel Garcia-Rulfo… so good!

What movie ending really frustrated you? And how would you change it?

Avengers: Endgame… Tony Stark would be alive!!! Aaaah… please come back Tony!

If you were talking to a younger version of you, what advice would you give yourself?

Don’t care so much about what other people think.

What’s your favourite board game?

Scrabble… a family favourite:)

What do you think the greatest invention has been?

Chocolate!

Artwork Work Things Out

Her sincere and heartfelt new song, “Work Things Out,” is about forgiveness—for ourselves and those we love. Faced with a challenging situation, this one felt unique, as previously in other relationships that had reached this point, Vanessa was willing to walk away. But with this one, that was not an option.
