The 15-year-old songstress is building herself a strong repertoire of original songs that bring her voice to its full potential. From a young age she has been writing and recording songs centred on stories of life, love, and personal interests, aiming to be a powerful voice for a younger generation.
The R&B and pop offering has chill and dark undertones, alongside her honest lyricism that is emotive and will easily hook listeners in with her storytelling.
Isla Maria worked with producer Myles Erlick on ‘No Doubt’. His musical guidance piqued her interest in songwriting. They began texting back and forth about creating different beats. She described to him what she generally had in mind for the feel of the track, and then he would send her a bunch of beats that he felt would work. It took them about a week before they created something to progress on.
Isla Maria wrote the lyrics with Aliyah. As they respectfully work naturally well together, it became a song she felt stoked about. They started off with the track and worked around it building lyrics to match the soundscapes and feel she wanted to achieve.
“I wrote ‘No Doubt’ during an on-again-off-again relationship where I realised he had all the power and wore me down to nothing. This song is about wanting to feel like you are your partner’s number one, taking your power back, and standing up for yourself in a relationship,” – Isla Maria comments on the track.
