Los Angeles-based alt-R&B artist Kailaya has dropped her latest single, “Outrageous.” The song celebrates Kailaya embracing her identity as a gay woman, released just in time for Pride Month! The soulful singer finds herself reminiscing on past relationships, diving into the importance of being true to your own emotions.  Get ready to dance because this song is a must add to your Pride Party playlists.

“’Outrageous’ is my story of the acceptance, love, and strength that followed me out of the closet.” – Kailaya

Kailaya is able to tackle her past, recognizing the lack of connection in her previous lovers. She comes to terms with her sexuality within the lyrics of “Outrageous,” and is proud of the woman she has become. Her soulful singing pairs perfectly with the hip-hop inspired beat, creating a sound that fits perfectly within the mainstream RnB songs found on the radio today.

Kailaya grew up heavily involved in the arts — from theater performances, dancing, and singing, she found an avenue to express herself and grow as a person. Kailaya started taking dance classes as a toddler, and discovered her love of lyricism through writing poetry in school. These creative outlets emphasized the importance of being comfortable in expressing the truest version of herself. Utilizing her past experiences and talents, Kailaya is creating a platform where she can share her stories and emotions with others. Her soulful music is inspired by hit RnB artists such as Daniel Caesar and Snoh Aalegra, providing an intimate view into her strongest emotions.
