Pomona Park, the Manchester-based indie band, just released their new indie pop single “Pillow Talk.”
The band formed in 2021, fresh out of the second UK lockdown when Bassist Bobby Mears messages Guitarist James Reid. He tells that Frontman Chris Smith has succumb to the weight of material and is tired of writing and releasing solo tracks, and has decided to grab Drummer Aaron Wrigglesworth along for the ride.
Several rehearsals and broken strings later – Pomona Park, by the Quays of Salford, Indie band, was born.
Conversational lyrics paint a world to become immersed in over punchy basslines and sweet guitar riffs, all held together on the shoulders of an energetic backbeat. Fans of Sam Fender, Blossoms, Paolo Nutini and Harry Styles will feel right at home with Pomona Park in their ears.
“Pillow Talk” almost has a MGMT style in the vocals meets a watered down Paramore. The electronic elements are more subtle and the more traditional indie pop elements are more pronounced. “Pillow Talk” is the story of a person’s own thoughts when laying in bed at night, the feeling of their heart beating as they revisit old memories, and the longing to be anywhere else but in that place again.
It’s a catchy tune that will be sure to get you on your feet and dancing along. I highly recommend it anyone who likes music even a little bit.
