Tara Novak is a classically trained violinist who writes alternative pop music to process the world she observes. She uses music to open our minds and hearts, to connect us all under the human experience. She has worked with and accompanied Broadway stars, played Irish fiddle with Riverdance & the Three Irish Tenors, been a soloist on three continents, and performed on stage in front of 70,000 people with Rod Stewart.

Tara’s newest alternative pop album, Layers of Identity, is a 10 song collection exploring the complexities of humanity, sharing love, and exhibiting empathy. “There is a saying: ‘Everyone desires transformation, but no one wants to change’ (from the podcast “Unlocking Us” by Brené Brown),” shares Tara. “This really sums up my process of creating Layers of Identity. I have worked many years in the classical, musical theater and folk genres, but when I decided to write my album, I wanted to speak in a contemporary language – something that would feel relevant to today.”

Tara has a unique voice that’s unlike anything you’ve ever heard, almost similar to the old Hollywood singers meets modern Broadway. While her musical style is similar, her lyricism is comparable to Adele in her delicacy and songcraft.

Layers of Identity is a beautiful ode to life’s complexity. Starting with a quirky pop song of love renewed in “My Heart Was Jumping” and concluding with an uplifting reminder to live each moment to its fullest in “This is It,” this album tells a story that is both personal and universal.

“It is my hope that this vulnerability has translated to the songs, capturing a few of the themes I have realized are so important to me: the desire to be seen by others, the space to find yourself, and the experiences of true love and pure joy,” she says.
