Now, in 2026, those songs are being rebuilt once again for a full theatrical production.
The Album That Reimagined The Greatest Showman
Released by Atlantic Records on November 16, 2018, The Greatest Showman – Reimagined took songs written by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul and placed them in the hands of contemporary recording artists.
P!nk recorded “A Million Dreams,” while her daughter Willow Sage Hart performed its reprise. Panic! At The Disco attacked “The Greatest Show” with arena-sized energy, Kelly Clarkson took on “Never Enough,” and James Arthur and Anne-Marie paired for “Rewrite the Stars.”
One of the album’s most ambitious collaborations was “This Is Me (The Reimagined Remix),” bringing Keala Settle together with Kesha and Missy Elliott. Sara Bareilles, Years & Years, Jess Glynne, MAX, Ty Dolla $ign and Zac Brown Band also contributed.
Why the Music Refused to Disappear
The reimagined record only existed because the original soundtrack had developed a cultural life considerably larger than a conventional film tie-in. Songs including “This Is Me,” “The Greatest Show,” “Never Enough” and “Rewrite the Stars” escaped the boundaries of the movie and became recognizable pop songs in their own right.
That durability is particularly striking because The Greatest Showman itself arrived in cinemas in 2017. Hugh Jackman starred as P.T. Barnum alongside Michelle Williams, Zac Efron, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson and Keala Settle, with Michael Gracey directing.

The Greatest Showman Became a Stage Musical in 2026
The story changed significantly in 2026. A full stage adaptation of The Greatest Showman premiered at Bristol Hippodrome, turning the cinematic spectacle into a production built around live performance, choreography, circus work and theatrical illusion.
Oliver Tompsett took the role of P.T. Barnum, with Samantha Barks as Charity Barnum, Ben Joyce as Phillip Carlyle, Vajèn van den Bosch as Jenny Lind and Malinda Parris as Lettie Lutz.
The creative team is substantial. Benj Pasek and Justin Paul return as the musical’s songwriters, while Tim Federle wrote the book. Two-time Tony Award winner Casey Nicholaw directs and choreographs, with Alex Lacamoire handling music supervision and orchestrations.
The production is not simply reproducing the movie frame by frame. According to the official production, it contains all of the songs from the film alongside brand-new material written by Pasek and Paul.
The Greatest Showman Is Heading to London’s West End
The next act is now confirmed. Following its Bristol run, The Greatest Showman will move to London’s Theatre Royal Drury Lane in spring 2027.
Tompsett and Barks will continue as Barnum and Charity, while Joyce, van den Bosch and Parris are also confirmed for the London cast. Further casting is still to be announced.
Theatre Royal Drury Lane gives the production a considerably larger West End platform. It also feels like a natural home for material that has always depended on scale: deep red curtains, bodies in motion, bright pools of stage light and choruses designed to fill a room.
Tickets have not yet gone on general sale. The production says ticket information will arrive later in autumn 2026, while the complete performance schedule is also still to be announced.
From Reimagined Pop Album to Live Theatre
Looking back, The Greatest Showman – Reimagined now feels less like an isolated companion album and more like one stage in the unusual lifespan of this music.
The songs began inside a film. They moved into playlists, charts and sing-along editions. Major recording artists then reshaped them in 2018. In 2026, performers began singing them inside a purpose-built theatrical world, with live choreography, circus design, costumes and an audience sharing the same physical space.
That journey says something about why The Greatest Showman has lasted. Strip away the cinema cameras and celebrity casting, and Pasek and Paul’s melodies still have enough structure to survive reinterpretation.
