Hamilton, ON based indie duo Burn The Louvre has been releasing their debut LP Silhouettes 1 song per month since January with the release of their 1st single “Wish We Were”. 11 months later, with the release of their sombre ukulele-driven 11th single “Honolulu”, Burn The Louvre’s debut LP Silhouettes is finally available everywhere!
“I’m very happy that this album is finally released in full and people can go and listen to it in the order I intended it,” said lead singer/guitarist Jordan Speare, “I think it’s fitting that the final 2 songs we released were the first track “Silhouettes” and the last track “Honolulu”. It’s fitting because “Silhouettes” is about the aftermath of my first relationship from my perspective while “Honolulu” is a song I wrote for her for her birthday, so I find it interesting that the 2 songs that bookend this album really highlight the parity between the good times and the bad times.”
“Honolulu” is a ukulele-powered track complete with compelling lyrics, an interesting arrangement and even a tempo change. Speare tells us the story behind the song:
“Okay, so “Honolulu” is a song I wrote for my first girlfriend Gillian for her birthday. We’d always joked about running away to Honolulu one day, so I wrote this song about the idea of doing just that,” explained Speare, “to be honest, I really wasn’t the best boyfriend, but I did some things right and this song is definitely one of them. I felt it was a nice way to bring the album to a close.”
