Progressive metal band Freycus unveiled “Justice Miscarried,” a commanding and transformative track featuring vocalist Pranati “Peekay” Khanna. This is the latest release for their upcoming album Oleander, set to drop later this year.

Beginning with punchy drums and assertive metallic strings, “Justice Miscarried” explodes into a raspy, guttural cry from Peekay. She quickly showcases her astounding vocal range, seamlessly transitioning into melodious lines. This juxtaposition is uniquely jarring, highlighting biting lyrics like “I see weak men rise to the occasion.” Written and recorded by Freycus, “Justice Miscarried” confronts the normalization of injustice. The song grapples with systems that perpetuate harm, from wars fueled by corporatized agendas and misinformation to everyday acts of displacement and exploitation. Members of Freycus explain, “It often feels like we’re living inside a nightmare, softened only by distraction, nights out, drinks, anything to make the weight feel lighter. We exist in survival mode. But rather than sit quietly and accept it, we choose to scream, to resist, to fight back… This is where ‘Justice Miscarried’ was born.” The band’s synergy is palpable as striking symbols from Donovan Wetterstein are matched by authoritative guitars from Zareh Minassian and grounding bass lines from Urian Medina. The layered and rebellious track was mixed and mastered by Keshav Dhar.

Pulling inspiration from acts such as Animals as Leaders, Vildhjarta, and Architects, Freycus delivers an invigorating intensity with purposeful lyricism. The Los Angeles-based metal project continues its gripping collaboration with Peekay, bringing a richer complexity to the music. This partnership began in 2024 after Peekay discovered the band through a listing while relocating to the city, deeply resonating with the work. “Justice Miscarried” is now streaming on all digital platforms, with the music video available on YouTube.
