Rising folk rock artist Gabe Parsons is back with “Hurricane’s Back,” a swirling anthem that captures the energy of youth, love, and discovery. The single marks the latest glimpse into Parsons’ anticipated debut album, Long Road Traveler, due out later this year.

Steeped in the windswept spirit of the open road and the intimate pull of home, “Hurricane’s Back” was one of the first songs written for the album and lays the emotional groundwork for its story arc. The song, featuring two recurring characters whose relationship evolves throughout the LP, simultaneously celebrates and captures a fleeting, fiery, and deeply human moment.

I wanted it to feel joyful and just a little rebellious,” says Gabe Parsons, reflecting on the track’s origins. Inspired by a memorable New York City performance by his former band, the song channels the electric charge of early adulthood, city nights, and the excitement of starting over in an unfamiliar place. Its lyrical protagonists—fabled versions of Parsons’ own New Jersey friends—chase dreams and recklessness with open hearts in a world brimming with promise.

Musically, “Hurricane’s Back” reflects the sonic direction of Long Road Traveler, drawing from the influences of homegrown hero Bruce Springsteen and ethereal indie rockers Lord Huron.

Following his success in the renowned New Orleans music scene and his studies at Loyola University’s School of Music Industry, Parsons made a triumphant return to the Northeast. In the past year alone, he’s played over 60 shows across the region, including a standout set at French Quarter Festival and an opening slot on Crowe Boys’ national tour.

With a growing fanbase and a debut LP on the horizon, Gabe continues to carve his path, one song and one stage at a time.
