Nail Repair Kits
Nail repair kits are a great way to bond your nail back together seamlessly. Most kits will come with a glue and powder duo. For the best application, gently buff the nail in one direction to avoid causing micro-abrasions. Because every nail repair kit is a little different, be sure to follow the instructions. However, if you feel like your nail could use some more reinforcement, feel free to repeat the process. Afterward, gently smooth out any bumps and apply polish.
Nail Glue
Applying nail glue is a similar process to nail repair kits; however, it’s a little simpler as it’s only a one-step process. Ideally, you’ll apply the glue as soon as you can and hold down the nail until the glue has completely dried. Unfortunately, not all nail glues will “bond in seconds” as advertised. Like the nail kits, you may have to repeat the process a few times to get the glue to stick. Then, buff out the uneven surfaces and apply a strengthening polish rather than nail polish.
Nail Silk Wraps
Silk wraps are a little more complex and harder to come by, but if you can find them, they work great, and you can do them on your own. Silk wrap kits will also come with a repair glue, but you’ll want to make sure that you completely clean and dry your nails before application. Once you’ve applied the glue, trim the silk wrap to fit over your nail and apply a little more glue so that it blends in with the rest of the nail. Like the other techniques, allow it to dry, buff it, shape it, and apply polish.
