Healing after life-altering events is an individualized experience. Songwriter Jeanna Fournier took time during the pandemic to reflect on a car-crash that left her seriously injured and created “Waking Sea,” a redeeming psych-rock single, as a declaration of triumph. Instead of letting this stop the band from doing what they love, Fournier turned this life event and used it as inspiration for the band’s next album. Serving as the title track off of their upcoming LP, One With the Waking Sea, the song explores a variety of sonic textures that will be sure to get you off your feet feeling stalwart and eager for what life throws your way. The Venice Beach band has just released a music video for the single.

Waking Sea’ is a song about finding peace in the wreckage. It was inspired by a car accident and my awakening in the years to follow as I healed from injuries and learned to accept my fate by surrendering to the pain to heal and transcend from it.”  – Jeanna Fournier

This past year was strenuous on all of us, and I’m sure everyone can find a part of them that wants to “become one with the waking sea.” “During the pandemic, I realized that so many of us are dealing with chronic health conditions, and now is a more important time than ever to nurture ourselves, look for happiness in the trenches, and roll with the ebb and flow of our existence.” Instead of dwelling on hardship, Little Galaxies uses irresistible guitar grooves, a distinct, moving piano part, and an alluring tenor lead vocal to deliver an adrenaline rush to listeners.
