Actress and singer-songwriter Michelle Núñez is bringing to life a melody that’s as heartfelt as it is grounded in her new single, “california, home.” The track blends her heartfelt vocals and earthy background instrumentation to create a song that feels both personal as well as wide reaching. At its core, the song reflects how deeply connected people can feel to certain places. Núñez sings about missing home and the changes that come with moving on, making it a song that many listeners can relate to, especially if they’ve ever felt stuck between staying where they are or returning to where they feel they truly belong.

Michelle Núñez brings the song to life with her stunning vocals and vivid imagery of California’s coastline, captured at the iconic Big Sur. The visuals, shot by Mack Fisher on 16mm Kodak film, display a unique sense of calming comfort. In the lyrics, “The almighty whispers, reminding me I’m home”, Núñez reflects on the comfort she has found in her new home of California. The line captures her acceptance of change and the courage it takes to move forward in life while chasing her dreams. “This video is a love letter to California, a place where beauty and longing coexist. Filmed in Big Sur, it reflects on the quiet growth within us, the parts we shed, the versions of ourselves we carry forward,” says Núñez. Taking a leap of faith to chase your dreams in a new place can feel scary for many. Yet through the intricate illustrations of West Coast beaches and mountains, Núñez reveals that the unknown can hold beauty, and may not be so intimidating after all.

Michelle Núñez is a Los Angeles–based Afro-Dominican multidisciplinary artist whose work spans film, television, theater, music, and poetry. Best known for her breakout role as Zane on Tyler Perry’s Ruthless, Núñez has also appeared on ABC’s The Rookie: Feds opposite Niecy Nash and Ryan Murphy’s Doctor Odyssey alongside Phillipa Soo.
