American Expat now residing in East Sussex is the rising singer/songwriter who draws inspiration from motherhood. Her music is incredibly honest with powerful storytelling, gripping melodies, and strong vocals.
She just released her 3rd single “Hungry Little Bird” from her upcoming debut album, This is How I Pray. “Hungry Little Bird” is an indie pop song that provides an upbeat tempo that on the outside appears to be a happy and positive song. However, the lyrics provide a deeper meaning.
“This song was written to honour my friend’s struggle and triumph over anorexia,” shares Erika. “This song has evolved since its inception and now feels like an aching love letter striving to remind anyone feeling alone or adrift that they are loved and that they belong in this world.”
Her voice provides a soothing and welcoming quality, almost Brandi Carlile-esque with a Joni Mitchell inspired style of songwriting. “Hungry Little Bird” beautifully creates a juxtaposition between raw lyrics and music that makes you dance, sending a clear message of love, life, and belonging.
