In a world overflowing with connection yet starved for meaning, loneliness has quietly become one of the most universal human experiences. Nearly one in three U.S. adults report feeling lonely, and more than half have faced it at some point. As Mother’s Day approaches—a time centered on reflection and emotional connection—mindfulness teacher and author Sheri Mandell brings this conversation to light with her debut book, The Butterfly In You

Published by Mark Victor Hansen Library, the book was released May 14 and is now available for order at Barnes and NobleWalmart, Amazon, and Books-A-Million.

“A perfect harmony of bringing the ancient wisdom of Tarot together with artificial intelligence.” — Mark Victor Hanson, Publisher

A Journey Through Loneliness and Self‑Discovery

“Loneliness isn’t just about being physically alone — it’s about losing connection with yourself,” says Mandell. The Butterfly In You uses the archetypal language of tarot’s Major Arcana not as mysticism, but as a mirror for self‑reflection. Through memoir and mindfulness, Mandell guides readers to recognize emotional patterns and transform them into awareness and reconnection.

The book grew from her own experience of profound isolation — a disconnection not only from others but from parts of herself long suppressed. “I didn’t write this book because I had all the answers,” she explains. “I wrote it because I was searching for them. Tarot became a mirror that helped me see my patterns clearly for the first time — and once we can see our patterns, we can change them.”

The “Return to Self” Movement

What began as a private journaling practice has evolved into Mandell’s Return to Self-movement—a growing conversation around emotional awareness and presence in an overstimulated world. “Loneliness is one of the quiet epidemics of our time,” she says. “The Butterfly In You is not just my story; it’s an invitation for readers to rediscover themselves.”

Even modern tools like artificial intelligence, Mandell notes, can serve as unexpected mirrors for self‑inquiry and emotional processing — bridging ancient wisdom with contemporary reflection.
