Rising rock quartet The Modbeats continue their bold sonic evolution with their latest single, “The Setting Sons.” Blending neo-Eastern influences, power-pop sensibilities, and classic rock textures, the track delivers a dynamic and immersive listening experience.

Opening with a Jeff Beck-inspired riff reminiscent of The Yardbirds’ “Heart Full of Soul,” the song quickly builds into an anthemic, electrifying chorus, making it both fresh and nostalgic. Frontman Philip Dunn explains that the track embodies the escapism of music in an increasingly chaotic world. “The world has gone mad, but at least we can still get in the car, blast our favorite songs, and have our kicks for at least a little bit,” he shares. Adding to the song’s powerful resonance, Bryan Haring of The Gaslight Anthem lends his signature harmonies on the chorus, further elevating the track’s timeless yet modern feel. Engineered by Nick Semanchik at Lake House Studio in Asbury Park, NJ, “The Setting Sons” showcases the band’s ability to fuse mod, surf, blues, and rockabilly influences into a cohesive, high-energy anthem.

Since forming in 2023, The Modbeats have rapidly gained recognition for their revivalist yet innovative rock and roll sound. Their debut single, “Ballad of a Starving Artist,” was featured on WXPN’s annual Power Pop Extravaganza, while their recent release, “Fairweather Friends,” caught the attention of Rock at Night, Powerpopaholic, and Digital Tour Bus. The band also earned a spot on Music Connection’s Hot 100 Live Unsigned Artists and Bands of 2024 list. With a lineup featuring Philip Dunn (vocals, guitar), Joe Mandia (guitar), Scott Matison (bass), and Fizz (drums), The Modbeats are proving to be a force to be reckoned with in the modern rock landscape. Stream “The Setting Sons” now on all major platforms, and stay connected with the band on Instagram and their website.
