Charleston, SC‑based indie rock outfit Five Door Sedan return with their latest release, “Stay By My Side,” accompanied by a dynamic new live performance video — out now on all streaming platforms. Capturing the band’s raw, high‑octane energy, the video offers fans a front‑row look at the chemistry and intensity that have become synonymous with their live shows.

Driven by groove‑heavy rhythms, sharp musicianship, and an anything‑can‑happen spirit, “Stay By My Side” showcases Five Door Sedan at their most immediate and compelling. The track leans into the band’s signature blend of indie rock, funk‑infused textures, and jam‑forward spontaneity — balancing tightly wound arrangements with bursts of controlled chaos.

A Rising Force in the Southeast Scene

Hailing from Charleston, SC, Five Door Sedan have quickly built a reputation as one of the Southeast’s most exciting rising acts. Known for electrifying performances and genre‑blurring sound, the band seamlessly fuses indie rock sensibilities with groove‑driven jams and improvisational flair. Their ability to shift between tight, polished sections and loose, explosive moments has earned them a devoted and rapidly growing fanbase.

They’ve shared stages with notable acts including Rome of Sublime with Rome, The 502’s, Penelope Road, and Wim Tapley & The Cannons, and recently celebrated a major milestone by selling out a hometown headline show in Charleston. With extensive touring across the Southeast and Midwest already under their belt, Five Door Sedan continue to expand their reach city by city.

Looking Ahead to Their Next Chapter

“Stay By My Side” marks the latest step toward the band’s highly anticipated second full‑length album, due October 2026. The upcoming project promises to refine their sound while pushing into new sonic territory — capturing both the precision of their songwriting and the unpredictability of their live performances.

In support of the new release, Five Door Sedan will be on the road throughout 2026, bringing their high‑energy live show to audiences across the country.

How would you define your unique musical style?

Our musical style is heavily influenced by artists like Flipturn, Vulfpeck, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Pink Floyd. As with any band, we all come with our own inspirations.

Can you walk us through your creative process when writing or producing music?

With this song specifically, I had just randomly written the big heavy riff at the end of the song at some point and I knew I had something there. Sometimes the ‘best part’ comes to you first and you know that the task ahead is writing the rest of the track.

I was at a point where I was inspired musically but lost lyrically so I ended up just writing the lyrics about having had run out of lyrics to write. The band gave me that idea when I came to them and told them I couldn’t think of anything to write about.

How did the pandemic impact your approach to music and performing?

During the pandemic I moved into an RV and relocated to Charleston, SC. It took years of living here and playing with different musicians until I found these guys but Five Door Sedan as the world knows it wouldn’t exist if it hadn’t been for the pandemic.

Which song do you love performing live the most, and what makes it special?

Honestly this new track, Stay By My Side, is the winner here. It’s been our set closer for awhile now even though it wasn’t out yet. It just has such a strong energetic ending that ALWAYS gets the crowd moving and gets people filming, not to mention its a ton of fun to play.

Do you have a hidden talent or party trick most people don’t know about?

Will, our bass player, can do a back flip. Come to a show and scream back flip at him and he just might do it.

Imagine you’re the only survivor of a plane crash—what’s the first thing you’d do?

Probably enjoy the peace and quiet for a moment before having a severe panic attack.

What’s your take on garden gnomes—love them or leave them?

Depends on if they are full of MDMA like they are in the Project X movie..

Who would play you in the movie version of your life?

I want to say Timothee Chalamet but I’m definitely not that handsome

Are you more of a cat person, dog person, or both?

Dogs are always and will always be a man’s best friend.
