Having good nutrition in your diet is important to have for a healthy life. Stephanie Rofkahr has some tips for us when it comes to nutrition and eating healthier.

Eat berries, dark leafy greens, avocados, and sea vegetables in your day

Berries, leafy greens, avocados, and sea vegetables are refreshing fruits and vegetables that are soft and light in texture and are water based which keep you cooler during the hot summer months.

Eat cooling foods to keep you cool and hydrated during the summer months

I would recommend melons and watermelons. Watermelon is one of my favorites to eat to help keep the body cool. I also enjoy watermelon in a smoothie made with unsweetened almond milk, chia seeds, and strawberries. It is such an easy and delicious smoothie to make with watermelon. I especially like to eat watermelon in the hot summer months as it is light on your stomach and it keeps you hydrated.

Some processed foods we should avoid

Before putting food items into your shopping cart, read the labels for the ingredients. Try to avoid processed foods that have trans fats or high fructose corn syrup as well as foods that lack nutrients such as white bread.

Make sure to eat protein in your diet

As a rule of thumb, you need to prioritize your protein intake. I highly suggest chicken as one of your main sources of protein. Eggs are also wonderful. I like to do one whole egg with two egg whites. Get in your fruits and veggies every day while you are having your protein. Almonds are a great source of protein and are a healthy fat source. And avocados too. Yes, avocados are a tad high in fat but it is a healthy fat and is a better potassium source than a banana.
