Michigan-based indie rock band Future Misters have released their new single “Tension,” available on all digital platforms NOW. A firm representation of Future Misters’ sonic identity, “Tension” is the band’s first release of 2020. The track combines two opposite types of instrumentation – heavy guitar riffs and a bluesy groove. The styles make for a unique and fresh pairing, setting Future Misters on a songwriting path all their own.

About the single, the band states:

“The song is about a feeling of chaos in facing pressures of the real world and being pushed into a life you don’t want to live. I wrote it right around the time I finished school and started working, and realized that life is too short to not have as many good experiences as you can. There’s more to life than just graduating, working, maybe going on a vacation every once in a while, and retiring.”

Future Misters is an indie rock band from Grand Rapids, Michigan formed in September of 2017. Its original members consisted of Trevor Sharnas (guitar and vocals), Ryan Fluke (drums), Mason VanDyke (keyboard), and Alberto Gomez (bass and vocals). With the original members they released their first two EP’s, Around for the Wrong Time, not the Long Time and Potato Blimp to Mars in 2018.

Following the release of their EP’s Future Misters added Nicholas Buwalda as their new bassist, moving Gomez to rhythm guitar. In July of 2019, Gomez decided to leave to pursue his education, as well as Mason for individual creative projects. Upon their departure Future Misters added a new lead guitar player, Lewis Malone to their line-up. As a quartet, Future Misters distill a combination of heavy guitar riffs, groovy bass lines, and up-beat vocal melodies contributed by Trevor Sharnas’ songwriting. Sonically and lyrically, the band expresses their take on life, love, house parties, dive bars, the open road, and their view of the world from the window of their van.
