Long Island, NY | August 12th, 2020 – Progressive metal artist Eric Francis has announced the upcoming release of his new LP “Under A Fake Sky,” available on all digital platforms August 28th. Creating a deliberate sense of “musical whiplash” in his sound, Eric Francis uses a contrast between light and heavy elements in his writing. “Under A Fake Sky” was conceived during the COVID-19 pandemic from March – July, and was created entirely by Francis in his home while in quarantine. Lyrically, the LP tells the story of his personal experiences during quarantine, and how he was handling isolation, current events, and the COVID-19 pandemic.

About the LP, Eric states:“The album ends on a cliffhanger. While creating this album has provided me with much needed comfort and distraction, nothing has changed. The pandemic is ongoing with no way out in sight. Many people, myself included, are still lost at sea when it comes to careers and incomes. The current state of the world is bleak, and I felt that there was no other appropriate ending. Depending on what the future holds, I may continue the story in a follow-up album.”Eric Francis is a musician, songwriter, and audio engineer from New York. While he is labeled a “Progressive Metal” artist, he has experimented with many genres of Rock and Metal in his music.

Eric began writing and recording music in 2007. He has collaborated with many other musicians and played in several bands, including Caught Lost (2008-2009) and Maybe Later (2016-2019). He has released three solo albums: Dreamstate (2014), A Perfect Moment (2016), Full Circle (2019), an acoustic album: A Closer Look (2020), and two EPs with Maybe Later: Visions (2018) and Turning Points (2019).

Eric’s upcoming release, “Under a Fake Sky” is a Progressive Metal/Djent album born from his experience living through the COVID-19 pandemic. While he initially had no intention of making another album so soon after his previous release, Eric turned to writing music to cope with quarantine after his life was put on hold. Eric wrote, performed, recorded, mixed, and mastered the entire album from his home between March and July 2020. This is the third Eric Francis release that Eric produced himself, following Full Circle and A Closer Look.
