Lauren Harding and Mallory Trunnell, each accomplished musicians on their own, formed Crimson Calamity due to their mutual love of dynamic harmonies, storytelling-centric songwriting, and female-forward Americana influences. Since then, they’ve released two highly acclaimed EP’s including 2015’s “All In The Cards” and their 2018 EP “Gypsy Heart.” Their sound, an earth-rattling mix of country sass, rock grit, and shimmery folk magic, has captured the attention of publications like For The Country Record and Savvage Media. In 2018 they won the LA Music Critic award for Best Single (Group) for “Fools Gold” and captivated audiences across the country from Los Angeles to Boston.

On their Christmas single “First Snow,” the duo presents an aching and reminiscent sound that instills every harmony with boundless yearning. The primarily acoustic track recorded live in the studio, centers around their natural and graceful harmonies sprinkled with billowing strings and a haunting piano. The sweeping arrangement carries with it a sense of peace and hope, the perfect emotional complement to any holiday-themed single. Crimson Calamity prove once again that their enchanted vocals give breathe to each story they tell and create lasting musical memories at every turn. Check out their first Christmas single, “First Snow.”

“We set out to write a holiday tune about the first snow of the year and wanted it to have a timeless reverence to it. Almost a canon. As we went about writing, this story emerged of this soldier who hasn’t made it home yet. We wanted to be vague enough that the story could be from now or yesteryear, the narrator could be waiting on a soldier today or during wartimes past. There are a whole lot of people in our country that can relate to that feeling and we wanted to honor all of them.”
