J. Luke Cloutier is stepping onto the music scene with the release of his debut single “Drown”. Exclusively premiering in B-Sides & Badlands, “Drown” is an indie folk-pop song about “the difficulty of building a relationship as a young person while also having dreams that you want to chase. It’s about understanding the difference between want and need, and knowing that the person you want now will be the person that you need someday.” (J. Luke Cloutier) Recording in Burlington, CT at Silver Bullet Studios, Cloutier enlisted the help of producer Greg Thomas to engineer and produce the track. He also collaborated with Alex Newport, Grammy-Nominated producer for his work on Death Cab For Cutie’s Narrow Stairs album, for the mixing of “Drown”. Overall, Cloutier has masterfully created “Drown” to showcase his lyrical intricacies, unique folk/rock/pop style, and intimate vocals in a debut that sets him apart from the rest.

“ “Drown” … glistens with that plucky optimism, golden brown around the edges, a slight vocal rasp soaked in sandpaper…a weary, intimate confessional, one of great persuasion to himself never to give up.” (B-Sides & Badlands)

“Cloutier has been playing guitar since the age of six and began recording songs he’d written throughout his life in 2018. “Drown” is his first single and a stellar sampling of his instrumental acumen and lyrical stylings.” (Indie Band Guru)

“Drown” is available for streaming on all major platforms.
